Sanctuary of Tears
Brittle, dead grass was layered in ash, tress barren of leaves stretched to the sky, and carcasses littered the ground. Rotten leaves were strewn beneath a canopy of branches, fallen long ago. A still lake of black waters with a frozen waterfall presided to the left of a small glade. Heavy black clouds rolled across the sky, a never ending stream of thunder and torrents of ash. No footsteps fell, not a breath was breathed in the confines of these trees. No one had ever come to this place and left alive, their bones buried beneath the fallen ash and leaves. No one wanted to come here, most did not know of its existence. Those who did feared it and feared its guardian. The Archangel of Death, a cold woman who possessed a deadly sword. There was also a tree. A dead pink cherry tree empty of blossoms. -- Knee high grass swayed in the wind, bending to the gentle breeze. Tall trees bright with green leaves spread into the sky, creating a shaded forest. Deer darted between the wide tree trunks, halting to drink from the blue waters that stemmed from a small waterfall to the left of a small glade. White clouds floated through a sky of blue, promising a clear sky in the evening. There were quiet murmurs and footprints in the mud. The bones buried beneath the dirt were forgotten. Not many knew of this place, and those who did searched for it constantly. It had once been feared, along with its guardian. There is a tree. A pink cherry tree with blossoms in constant bloom. This place connects the layers of time and place. It stretches from past to future and from the discovered to the unknown. This place is a widely renowned place. It is a place where its inhabitants are known for their strength and bravery, their open arms and love for each other. This place has people of all kinds, humans, supernatural, the created, and the creators. And it is loved by each of them. It is their home away from home. This place is called The Sanctuary of Tears. It is not a safe place and it is not a place easily given up. The people of the Sanctuary will fight until their last breath. And their last breath will be a winning breath. Only haven lived in its confines a year, they have altered existence as a whole. People have died, people have lived, and people have changed. The once desolate land is now full of life. And there is a tree. It’s pink blossoms signaling the hope for all of eternity. The Sanctuary of Tears is not only in words, but in mind as well. The Sanctuary, or Glade as it is known affectionately, presides over my conscious. It is the safe haven of thought. Everyone has their version of Sanctuary of Tears. Their creation varying to each individual, some still wander the ash laden grounds while others relax in the meadows of flowers. No one speaks about their Sanctuary of Tears, it is a sacred place.

A woman in all black walked her grounds, the crumbling ash compacting beneath her boots. Her journey started at the foothills of the Rigids, a steep mountain range. Almost melding into the shadows, she continued through the evergreen woods, that were never in-fact green, but instead an empty black. Over fallen logs of dead trees and through muddy sections of the forest she traversed. Finally, she rounded the thawing lake. And before her was the beloved Sanctuary of Tears. It's remarkable cherry tree was dead however, the branches devoid of life. Just how she preferred.
Readjusting the navy blue cloak she wore, her staff was in sight. A simple piece of wood, the black wood carved with swirls and curving lines. Leaning onto the staff, she surveyed her Glade. Perhaps one of the last times she would see it empty and at peace. For soon, people would arrive and face their fears. Soon it would be a gauntlet of life and love. And soon, soon it would be alive again.
The woman didn't want to say farewell to her old Sanctuary and welcome new ones. She was not fond of change. Though, being the Guardian of the Glade came with its responsibilities; mentoring and welcoming the new was one of them. With one last survey of the Sanctuary she went to her post. Just below the dead cherry tree, sitting on its roots in wait of an arrival.

Shiori stumbled past a tree with snow all around trying desperately to escape from his pursuers his dark violet cloak covering his head and body looking around. His breathing was heavy and was able to be seen in a misty form due to the cold climate. He looked behind him seeing the pursuers getting closer, with this he jumped into the snow leafed trees hiding in the trees. He jumps tree to tree until one jump gives him an uneasy feeling, he looks behind him only to see an arrow lodge itself into his shoulder causing him to fall. He braces himself waiting to feel the cold of the snow, but it doesn’t happen.
He opens his eyes slowly only to see, an open sky and a frozen waterfall. As he looked around he say a barren wasteland… Death was the only feeling it gave him. He slowly sat up cringing from the arrow and pulls it out, the wound freezing closed to stop any bleeding, Though a few specs of blood dripped down onto his pant leg which was white as well, all his clothes had been white except the cloak so he could hide in the white snow but now he had added some red to it. He drops the arrow and slow stands up. His left shoulder still in pain a bit and some blood soaking into his white tunic sleeve staining it. [Tsk damnit to hell] He said in his native elvish language. He looked around putting the hood from his cloak down making his way somewhere, anywhere it didn’t really matter to him at this point. All he knew was that he had come across a new sanctuary again and wondered what awaited him this time.

Harbour of Tears is a studio concept album by English progressive rock band Camel. It tells the story of an Irish family who are painfully separated as their young ones depart to the United States to seek a better future. Released in 1996, it was their twelfth studio album.
